How do I generate a Summary from my file?

Generating a summary with Deciphr AI is as simple as it gets: upload your file, let AI get to work, and wait a few minutes—that’s it!

Updated over a week ago

With Deciphr AI, you won’t have to spend long hours coming up with the best summary for your file.

To start generating summaries with Deciphr AI, here’s a quick and easy step-by-step guide you can follow:

Step #1: Visit app.deciphr.ai to log into your account.

Step #2: On the home page, look for the purple "Upload" button in the upper left-hand corner of the page and click it.

Step #3: Once you’re on the upload screen, go ahead and drag and drop your file into the upload box in the middle—or click the "Browse" button to select a file from your computer.

Remember: we currently only accept TXT, DOC, DOCX, MP3, WAV, MP4, MOV, and WebM files—so make sure to convert your file if it isn’t in any of these formats.

Step #4: After picking and uploading your file, you'll have the option to trim your audio or video file. When you're satisfied with the trim, click "Continue". Step #5: Now, you can specify the speakers in your upload. This will make it easier to navigate your transcript later. If there are more than two speakers, click "Add new speaker" until all speakers are noted and labelled for.

Step #6: After entering the speaker names, click "save".

Step #7: Now, just wait for Deciphr AI to process your file. You can check the processing time under "Processing Your File"—and you'll also receive an email when your file is ready.

Step #8: Once your file is processed, you can find it on the Library page. Click the card with your file's name to access your summary.

Step #9: After clicking the card with your chosen file’s name on it, you'll be taken to the output page. To view your summary, click the "Summary" tab on the left side of the page under the "Content" menu.

Step #10: Now, you can copy and paste your summary into a doc file or notepad. If you want to refine it further, click the "Edit" button next to the Summary label or use the AI Assistant switch to let Deciphr help you.
